Gather first

• A clear jar or tall glass · tall is best
• 🚰 Warm water · to fill it most of the way
• Food colouring · a few drops
• Cooking oil · about 1/4 cup
• Salt · 1 teaspoon, then more
• A flashlight
• A measuring cup

The big idea: Oil floats on water, and salt can drag it down for a ride.
