How many teeth do kids have?

Kids have 20 baby teeth. Grown-ups have 32 adult teeth.

Kids have 20 baby teeth. Most of them are in by about age 3.

Between about 6 and 12, the baby teeth fall out one by one and adult teeth take their places. A grown-up usually has 32 adult teeth, including four back teeth called wisdom teeth. Some people never grow wisdom teeth, so they have 28. That is normal too.

Quick count

  • Baby teeth: 20
  • Adult teeth: 32 (or 28 if no wisdom teeth grow in)
