Indoor games for kids: screen games and games with no screen
For a rainy day or a long evening, there are free games on screen and easy games with no screen at all. Pick one from either list and the afternoon has a plan.
On screen
Peabody's games are free, need no sign-up, and run in the browser. A few short rounds are enough for a quiet hour.
With no screen
A sorting game: put the socks, the spoons or the buttons into piles by colour, then by size. Count the piles together.
Hide and seek with a clue: hide a small toy, and give a clue at a time, such as 'it's higher than your knee'.
A story and a drawing: read a page from a book, then draw the part you liked best.
A cooking task: a child who can count can measure ingredients. The Kitchen has easy recipes with a picture for each step.
Questions
Are the screen games free?
Yes. Peabody's games are free through 31 December 2026, with no sign-up and no card.
What if my child gets bored of the screen?
Stop the game and switch to an activity from the no-screen list. A break from screens is a good time to read together.
