Brooklyn studio Tinybop makes beautifully drawn, open-ended apps for ages 4 and up. The Explorer's Library apps are interactive models of the human body, plants, the earth, weather, space, simple machines and more, with labels in 50+ languages; kids poke, feed and take things apart to see how they work. Digital Toys apps let kids build robots, creatures and simple video games. Each app is bought once, and free handbooks guide parents and teachers.
Our take: Great for curious kids who like to tinker and explore science; not for parents who want guided lessons or progress tracking.
