Unity is one of the most widely used professional engines for 2D, 3D and VR games, with code written in C#. Unity Learn is its free library of tutorials, guided Pathways and courses, from a first 3D scene to publishing a small game on Unity Play. Unity Personal is free for individuals and small teams. It suits teens aiming at real game development; it is heavy for younger kids.

Our take: Right for motivated teens heading toward game development careers; younger kids will get further with Scratch, GDevelop or Roblox Studio first.
