English Muffin Pizza for kids: the whole recipe

Let's make little pizzas that you top all by yourself! This easy recipe is for ages 5 to 11 (grades K–5th), takes about 20 minutes and serves 2. Crumb, our tiny chef, reads every step aloud with a picture, so a child can follow along, and every hot or sharp step is marked for a grown-up.

Ingredients

  • 2 English muffins
  • 4 tablespoons pizza sauce
  • ½ cup grated mozzarella

Tools

A baking tray, Measuring spoons, A big spoon, Measuring cups, The oven (grown-up), Oven mitts, A plate.

Steps

  1. Wash your hands with soap for twenty seconds.
  2. Grown-up step: A grown-up turns the oven on to 400°F so it gets nice and hot.
  3. Pull 2 English muffins apart into halves and lay them on a tray.
  4. Spread 4 tablespoons of pizza sauce over the halves with the back of a spoon.
  5. Sprinkle ½ cup of grated mozzarella on top, right out to the edges.
  6. Grown-up step: A grown-up puts the tray in the oven, wearing oven mitts.
  7. Watch through the window as the cheese melts and bubbles, about 8 minutes.
  8. Grown-up step: A grown-up takes the tray out with mitts on: let it cool for 5 minutes.
  9. Pizza time! Blow on it first, then take a big bite.
