Blipblox makes real synthesizers dressed as colorful toys. The SK2 and After Dark models have big knobs, buttons and a light show; toddlers can tap and twist to hear changes, while older kids and adults shape sounds with filters, effects and hundreds of built-in melodies. The myTRACKS model adds sampling and sequencing for building full songs. Everything works without screens or apps, and a small MIDI keyboard is sold as an add-on.

Our take: A lasting music-making toy for families who will use it across ages; parents wanting a cheap first instrument can start smaller.
