Brilliant

By Brilliant Worldwide, Inc.. Visit Brilliant

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

An app and website of short, interactive lessons in math, coding, science and data, from about grade 5 to college. Learners drag, slide and solve puzzles to work out ideas such as fractions, functions or Python loops, with an AI tutor called Koji that gives hints, asks guiding questions and sketches on screen, by text or voice. It tracks mastery and builds review sessions, and parents get progress updates. Most courses need a paid Premium plan.

Our take: A strong pick for motivated middle and high schoolers who like puzzles, if the price fits; younger kids and families wanting free tools should look elsewhere.

The AI in itKoji is a generative AI tutor that gives hints and guiding questions on an interactive canvas, by chat or voice, and is designed not to hand over answers.

What's good

  • Hands-on visual lessons that build real understanding
  • AI tutor is built to guide rather than give answers
  • Family plan covers six learners
  • Clear children's privacy section and kidSAFE seal

Watch for

  • Expensive compared with most kids' math apps
  • Kids' AI chats are kept and used to improve Brilliant's own AI
  • Voice tutoring uses the microphone
  • Built for older kids and adults; not for early grades

Data and privacy

For under-13s Brilliant collects name, email, age and AI tutor chats and uploads, and processes voice to text without storing audio; it says it does not sell children's data or share it with ad partners and does not let third-party AI models train on chat data, though it uses chats to improve its own AI. It is kidSAFE certified; adult users' data is used for interest-based ads elsewhere. Read the privacy policy.
