Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

A family of math puzzle apps from Norway, now part of Kahoot! Kids. Numbers and Big Numbers teach young children what numbers are and how to add and subtract big ones; Algebra 5+ and 12+ turn solving equations into a card game where kids isolate a box; Geometry, Multiplication and Chess round out the set, plus the Poio reading game. Kids play alone at their own pace with little text. A school version, DragonBox School, is sold separately.

Our take: A good pick for families who want playful, self-paced math puzzles on a tablet and don't mind a subscription; skip it if you want free tools or a full curriculum.

The facts
Ages it suitsabout 4-14 (Numbers from 4; Algebra 12+ for older kids)
What its terms say about ageNot stated as a minimum age. The DragonBox School terms say children are not independent users and parents or schools are responsible for their use. The consumer apps run on Kahoot!'s terms and privacy notice, which treat US children under 13 (under 16 elsewhere) as Children and collect only a hashed email from a child's own account. (terms)
PricePaid. Free to download but the apps need a Kahoot! Kids subscription: $5.99 a month or $36 a year (USD, Oct 2026, Kahoot's price page). The App Store also lists a $19.99 one-time purchase.

What's good

  • Clever puzzles that teach algebra ideas without symbols at first
  • Calm, ad-free play with little reading needed
  • Covers early numbers through geometry
  • Subscription also unlocks other Kahoot! Kids apps

Watch for

  • Needs an ongoing subscription; the apps are not useful without it
  • Each app is a fixed game; kids may finish and lose interest
  • Some App Store reviewers report losing access after paying
  • Tablet and phone only

Data and privacy

Kahoot! says it shows no third-party or targeted ads, does not sell personal data, and does not use platform data to train large language models. For a child's account it keeps only a scrambled email for password reminders. Read the privacy policy.
