Mindspark is an adaptive practice program from India's Educational Initiatives for math and English (classes 1-10) and science (classes 6-10). A child answers question after question at their own level, gets feedback and explanations when they slip, and moves on when ready; parents see reports. It is sold to families as a one-time package and also used in schools and government programs in India.
Our take: One of the few practice tools with a real randomized trial behind it; best for families following Indian curricula who accept a dated privacy policy.
| Ages it suits | classes 1-10 (about 6-16) |
|---|---|
| What its terms say about age | Under-18s may not register themselves; a parent or guardian must agree to the terms and make it available to the child. (terms) |
| Price | Paid. Example for Class 6, all three subjects: ₹8,599 for 6 months, ₹10,999 for 12 months, ₹15,999 for 24 months, one-time purchase (Oct 2026); free trial offered. |
| Works on | Web, iPhone and iPad, Android |
| Account | A parent's account |
| Ads | Not stated |
| In-app purchases | None |
| The AI in it | An adaptive engine picks each next question from the child's answers and common errors; no chatbot is described. |
What's good
- Strong independent trial evidence
- One-time price, no monthly renewal
- Targets the child's actual level, not grade
Watch for
- Privacy policy dates from 2021 and allows broad third-party sharing
- Built for Indian school boards
- Website and app content mostly sold in India
Data and privacy
Collects name, age, gender, phone, email, school and education details; the 2021 policy allows sharing personal data with third parties to improve its business and sharing aggregated data with partners so they can show users ads. No AI-training statement. Read the privacy policy.
Does it work?
A randomized lottery study in Delhi (Muralidharan, Singh and Ganimian, American Economic Review, 2019) found after-school Mindspark centers raised math scores by 0.37 standard deviations and Hindi by 0.23 in 4.5 months; those centers also had staff support, so home use may differ.
