Warning: read this before you buy or sign up. Checked 2026-10-24.
Rec Room was a free social game world, played in VR headsets, on consoles, PCs and phones, where players hung out in user-made rooms, played paintball and party games, and built their own rooms. It shut down its servers on June 1, 2026, saying it never found a way to make the business profitable; Snap reportedly bought some assets and hired staff. Its website now shows only an under-construction notice. Listed here as a cautionary tale.
Our take: Closed; a reminder that purchases and creations on any online platform can vanish when the company does.
