Sheppard Software

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

An older free site of browser learning games, best known for geography map quizzes, with hundreds of math games (counting through fractions, plus brain games), animal and science content, and preschool activities. A child picks a subject and level and plays short games or quizzes; many have several difficulty levels. Games were rebuilt in HTML5 after Flash ended. There are no accounts. The site is paid for by display ads.

Our take: Fine for supervised map and math practice; parents of young children may prefer a site that rules out tracking ads.

Checked in a browser

A browser check on 2026-10-25: what loads, the ads and trackers we saw, and what a child meets first. Not a hands-on test.

Child safety: 2 out of 5Google AdSense ads were on the page (5 ad frames, a 'Possible Advertisement' label), so adult-oriented ads are possible.
Data: 2 out of 5Google's ad network (googlesyndication, doubleclick) and Google Analytics loaded before any consent; no other ad networks.
Ease: 2 out of 5The page is a desktop layout that does not fit a phone: text is cut off at the right edge and the links are small.
Cost honesty: 5 out of 5Free; no upsell seen.

What we found

  • 11 third-party hosts on 5 sites, all Google
  • 5 Google ad frames from googleads.g.doubleclick.net; 'Possible Advertisement' shown on screen
  • 8 cookies set, one from doubleclick.net
  • Menu text and game lists ran off the right side of the phone screen

From the test: Free learning games with Google ads, and the page is hard to use on a phone.

Data and privacy

Collects technical data such as IP address and browser, and no personal details. Its privacy statement says third-party ad companies may use data about visits to this and other sites to show ads 'of interest to you', which is interest-based advertising on a site used by young children; it does not mention COPPA. Read the privacy policy.
