Vooks is a streaming library of picture books turned into gently animated read-alouds with narration, music and highlighted read-along text. A membership also includes audiobooks, plain ebooks, printable activities and quizzes, and Storyteller, which lets a grown-up record their own narration of select stories. The free Vooks Creator app for iPad lets children ages 4 to 10 draw and write their own storybooks. It is ad-free and runs on the web, iOS, Android and Amazon devices.
Our take: A calm, ad-free story app for preschoolers and early readers; check your library's free options first.
