14 AI study tools for high schoolers (flashcards, NotebookLM, quizzes)

Studying is where AI quietly shines for teens: turning a messy pile of notes into flashcards, quizzing on the actual reading, or building a practice test the night before. The catch is that making study materials is part of studying. A teen who lets AI make every card skips some of the learning. Use these tools to save the busywork, then do the remembering yourself. We list the free and school-friendly picks first, and point out where ads, limits and accuracy slip.

We favored tools that quiz from a teen's own materials, use spaced practice, and have a real free tier. Checked in October 2026; limits and prices move. Checked 2026-10-24. Nobody paid to be here and nothing is an affiliate link.

  2. Official Digital SAT Prep on Khan Academy
