18 best educational video games on consoles and PC (with ESRB ratings)

Some of the best learning games are not sold as learning games. They are regular console and PC games where you have to think like an engineer, a zookeeper or a city planner to win. This list covers Nintendo Switch, Xbox, PlayStation and PC games we think teach something real, with the ESRB rating for each. A good pick has depth, rewards planning, and holds up to family play. We also call out online features, paid add-ons, and the space sequel you should not buy.

We picked games where the learning is built into how you win, checked each ESRB rating on the official store page, and checked prices in October 2026. Prices move with sales. Checked 2026-10-24. Nobody paid to be here and nothing is an affiliate link.
