18 best logic and puzzle games and apps for kids

Puzzle games build the habits behind math and science: stay with a hard problem, try something, notice why it failed, and try again. This list mixes classic number puzzles, chess, beautiful puzzle apps, a few famous indie games, and screen-free logic toys. A good puzzle game has a clear rule, a fair challenge curve and no clock pushing kids along. We flag ads in free puzzle apps, which are common, and games that get hard enough to frustrate younger players.

We chose puzzles with fair rules and steady difficulty, checked each site or store page in October 2026, and listed ESRB ratings where the store showed them. Prices were checked in Oct 2026 and move. Checked 2026-10-24. Nobody paid to be here and nothing is an affiliate link.
