Kid-proof tablets sold as a bundle with a case and a year of Kids+. In October 2026 Amazon launched new Amazon Kids Tablet 8 and 11 models that run Android with Google Play, instead of the older Fire OS Fire Kids line. Each comes in a version for ages 3+ (soft bumper) or 6+ (slim case). Kids read, watch, play and create; every Google Play download needs a parent's approval in Parent Dashboard. Older Fire Kids tablets on Fire OS are still covered by the same Parent Dashboard.

Our take: A reasonable first tablet if you want Amazon's controls plus real Android apps; families who want a tightly closed device may prefer a device without the Play Store.
