A messaging app for kids where parents decide who their child can talk to. Children send texts, voice and video messages, make video calls and group audio calls (handy for playing Minecraft or Roblox with friends), and use stickers, games and face filters. It includes Kai, AI tools that turn a child's ideas into images, with prompts filtered and summarized for parents each week. A separate app, Kinzoo Together, adds reading and games to video calls with grandparents.
Our take: A good first messenger for under-13s whose friends will also join; check the in-app store settings.
| Ages it suits | young kids to tweens, on a parent-made account |
|---|---|
| What its terms say about age | The terms must be accepted by a parent or guardian on the child's behalf; a parent creates a Parent Account first, then a Child Account. No numeric minimum age is set. (terms) |
| Price | Free, with paid extras. Free (Oct 2026); optional extras such as stickers and face filters are sold in the app. |
| Works on | iPhone and iPad, Android, Web |
| Account | A parent's account |
| Ads | None |
| In-app purchases | Yes |
| The AI in it | Kai uses outside providers such as OpenAI to make images from a child's prompts; Kinzoo screens prompts and alerts parents to high-risk ones. |
