Echo Dot Kids (with Alexa+)

By Amazon. Visit Echo Dot Kids (with Alexa+)

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

A kid-themed Echo Dot smart speaker with a year of Kids+. Kids ask Alexa questions, hear stories, jokes and music with explicit lyrics filtered, set alarms, and use Sleep Studio bedtime audio from Calm and Headspace. With Alexa+ (Amazon's newer AI assistant) kids can make up stories with Stories with Alexa. Parents set daily time limits and bedtimes and review activity in Parent Dashboard; voice shopping is off for recognized child profiles.

Our take: Fine for bedtime stories and quick questions if parents check and delete recordings; skip it if a microphone in the bedroom bothers you.

Data and privacy

Amazon says Kids on Alexa voice recordings are kept so parents can review them and to improve Alexa; parents can delete them in the Alexa app. Without parental consent some kids' voice features still run, but Amazon says it will not store those recordings. No interest-based ads on child profiles. Read the privacy policy.

Does it work?

In 2023 the FTC and DOJ charged Amazon with keeping children's Alexa voice recordings for years and not fully honoring deletion requests; Amazon agreed to a proposed $25 million penalty.
