Gemini Storybook

By Google. Visit Gemini Storybook

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

A feature inside Google's Gemini app. You describe a story, or upload photos, drawings or files, and Gemini makes a 10-12 page illustrated book with read-aloud narration in a style you choose. You can ask for changes in chat, then print it, save it as a PDF, or share a public link. Parents use it to turn a child's drawing or a family event into a book to read together.

Our take: Useful for parents who want a one-off custom picture book, used by the adult; not something to hand to a child.

What's good

  • Free to try with a regular Google Account
  • Can build a book from a child's own drawing or photo
  • Print, PDF and read-aloud built in
  • Report button on each book

Watch for

  • Adults only: a child should not run it
  • Uploaded family photos go into Gemini and may be human-reviewed
  • Share links are public
  • Pictures can come out odd or inconsistent

Data and privacy

Gemini Apps keep chats, uploads and generated content; depending on the Keep Activity setting this data is used to improve Google AI, and some chats are read by human reviewers and kept even after you delete activity. Nothing specific to children's data, since the feature is adults-only. Read the privacy policy.

Does it work?

The maker's own claims only. No independent studies found; Google labels Storybook an experimental Gem.
