Nintendo Switch Parental Controls app

Desk research from the maker's own pages. Not yet tried by us. Checked 2026-10-24.

A free phone app that links to a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2. Parents set daily play time limits (with an alarm or automatic suspend), choose which games are allowed by ESRB rating, limit chatting and sharing with other players, cap eShop spending, and see daily and monthly play reports. On Switch 2, players under 16 can only use GameChat with friends a parent approves, and each video chat needs a parent's OK. Two parents can share control.

Our take: Every family with a Switch should set it up; it does nothing for other devices.
